About Me

Hi, my name is Kayla (my Japanese name is Yukina), and I'm a twenty-something gal with a huge passion for outdoor sports, fitness, nutrition and COOKING. I started this blog when I was working and traveling in Australia. Initially, I wanted to use this as a channel where I can share my thoughts, goals, adventures and favorite recipes with my close friends and family. But after several months of blogging, I got to know many fabulous readers and fellow bloggers, and decided to continue with it even though I have since left Australia and returned to Singapore.

In case you are wondering where I'm from, I am Japanese, born in Osaka, but have lived outside Japan most of my life. My Dad was working in Malaysia & Singapore, and consequently, I spent my childhood and adolescent years in these two countries too!

So why the blog title Fitter Than Choc?
Well, it's the two things that I love most - Fitness and chocolates!  Both of which triggers the release of endorphins and keep me happy! The whole idea's about finding a good balance between staying healthy and indulging in things you love. Chocolates are often associated with being a sinful delight, and a big no-no when dieting. However, I strongly believe that anyone can be fit and healthy even when they love chocolates. Or rather, we don't necessarily have to give up our favorite foods even when we are trying to lose weight. By starting Fitter Than Choc, I hope to use it as a channel to share some of the healthy (or not-so-sinful) recipes that I really enjoy.

Do feel free to contact me at fitter.than.choc@gmail.com if you have any questions! I'd certainly love to hear from you!
